Topic: Aging in Missouri CLICK TO VIEW PRESENTATION

Margaret T. Donnelly was appointed director of the Department of Health and Senior Services by Governor Jay Nixon on January 12, 2009.  As director of DHSS, she serves as the state’s top public health official, overseeing 1,900 employees and some 200 programs. Her responsibilities range from planning Missouri’s response to disasters to inspecting hospitals and child care centers to supervising programs that allow seniors and people with disabilities to live independently.

Dr. Miguel Paniagua works at Saint Louis University Hospital, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gerontology & Geriatric Medicine. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Hospice and Palliative Care. He did his residency and fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine and is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Medical School.

Dr. Abhilash K. Desai, is an Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Healthy Brain Aging at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Department of Neurology & Psychiatry, Division of Geriatric Psychiatry. He completed his general psychiatry residency at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 1998; and his Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1999. He served as the Medical Director for the Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Appleton, WI from 2004 to 2008.

Linda Weiner, LCSW is a Diplomate and ASSECT certified Sex Therapist since 1987. Prior to beginning a private practice in 1988, Linda was trained and employed as a Clinical Research Associate as well as serving as Director of Work Shops and Training at Masters & Johnson Institute in St. Louis from 1983-1988. Linda has a successful private practice, is a published author, therapist, consultant, and teaches graduate courses in Human Sexuality at Washington University Brown School of Social Work.
